Stuck in Mud

written by Sandy Lake students,

Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Canada

One day Leanne and Lizzy went for a hike to

the top of the mountain. They walked through

really thick bushes and used their raft to get

across a pond. As they hiked, they came upon

a puddle. They had no choice but to cross the

puddle. Suddenly Leanne got  stuck up to her

knees in mud that was at the bottom of the puddle.

Anne Riles 1st grade, Sope Creek School
Marietta, GA   continues the story:

Anxiously Lizzie kept encouraging Leanne to walk out

of the mud! Every try just seemed to sink Leanne

deeper. They called out for help but had seen no one

on the trail earlier. The girls decided to sing to

help keep calm. Lizzie found a broken branch and held

it out to Leanne, No matter how hard she pulled she

just wasn't strong enough to pull her friend to

safety. As they sang "What a Wonderful World," a

rider on a horse appeared. He had heard the singing

and came to see who it was. He quickly threw Leanne a

rope tied to his saddle and his horse slowly pulled

her from the mud. It definitely was "a wonderful world!"

Let's write a story together. Each participating class will start a story then email it on to the next designated class to add to it.
At the end of the month, email us the finished product for publication at this site.
