PROGRAMS --- TACT

The TACT model is a Divisional project to more effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning.

The focus has been on classroom design, developing learning activities and lessons presented to students using a technology / centre teaching approach.

Each TACT classroom has a 5:1 student to computer ratio. Teachers prepare modules or learning activities for small groups of students. Some of these activities would be technology based and others would not.

At the end of the project, the TACT teachers will have developed strategies that demonstrate effective teaching practices for the use of technology in the classroom that would be available for other teachers to access.

This site is designed to provide information about the project to parents and educators and to act as a resource for teachers wanting to incorporate the TACT model.

The TACT project evolved from a Department of Education project called I.M.Y.M. (Interdisciplinary Middle Years Multimedia).

The  purpose of the project, which began in the spring of 2002,  is to better integrate technology into classroom teaching.
