DAY OF PINK
April 12, 2017
What is Day of Pink?
Day of Pink was created by 2 straight high school students when they witnessed a gay student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. After intervening, they decided to buy and wear pink shirts in solidarity with their classmate. The entire school quickly took a stand and united to fight homophobic and transphobic bullying. The movement quickly spread and it is now supported by millions across the world.
Forrest Elementary School is participating in Pink Day on Wednesday April 12th. Pink Day is an initiative that provides students, staff and the community with the opportunity to discuss the impact of bullying and how they can use their power to help create a safe and respectful school environment. Students and staff are invited to wear pink shirts in solidarity to show that bullying is unacceptable and to stand for respect.
