We still have some yearbooks available, if you didn't order one. They are selling for $25 and can be purchased at the office.
The Parent Council at Forrest Elementary is currently fundraising for a new playstructure. If you would like to get involved, please contact the school.
Student Evaluations and Exams
Report cards for all students K-8 will be sent home in November and March (followed by Parent/Teacher Interviews) and at the end of the school year. In November, all parents are invited to come to the school to meet their child’s teacher to discuss their child’s development during the first term. In March, interviews will be on a selective basis for most grades. Conferences at other times can also be set up as requested by parents or teachers. Do not hesitate to call to talk with a teacher or the principal if you have any concerns regarding your child.
Grade 7 & 8 students will be required to write year-end exams for the core subjects: LA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. If a student’s average mark for the year is over 80%, he/she may be exempt from the exam in that subject.
Storm Policy
The Rolling River School Division has passed a policy with regards to winter storms. In the event of a severe storm arising during the school day, we will not release any student whose parents have not been contacted prior to the buses leaving the school at a time other than regular dismissal time. Therefore, if a storm should arise and you are not at home, please attempt to call the school or bus driver and leave instructions for your child. You are welcome to pick up your child if you feel that is necessary. Very seldom have we called the buses in early due to a storm. During the winter, if it happens to be storming in the morning or if the weather is severely cold, the radio stations will carry messages, beginning at 7:30 a.m., as to school closure and/or whether buses are running.
Threat Assessment Policy
The Rolling River School Division has developed a policy on assessing violence potential. We will be assessing all threats which we define as being “High Risk” behaviors. Some high risk behaviors addressed in this policy are:
Threats may be written, verbal, drawn, posted on the internet or made by gesture only, and as noted by Canadian Law, may be direct, indirect, conditional or veiled.
Any type of threat will not be tolerated at Forrest Elementary School, and all students have been given “fair notice”. Our school has “zero tolerance” for not responding to threat-related behavior! In other words, all high risk behavior will be taken seriously and high risk students will be assessed accordingly.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding this policy, please feel free to contact the school. (728-7674)
