A well-established Music Program is in operation at our school.

Students from grade 1 - 6 are taught general music, while students in grade 7 & 8 may take band instruction at Erickson Collegiate at 10:30 to 12:00 on Day 4 & 6, traveling during recess.

Two approaches are incorporated in developing the students musically in the general music program. The Kodaly Approach, which emphasizes the students’ ability to read and write music using hand signals, and the Orff Approach which uses speech, singing, movement, improvision and the playing of instruments to encourage creativity and develop music skills in the areas of rhythm, melody and harmony .
