Dear Parents or Guardians:

Re:      Provincial Implementation of Tell Them From Me – Grades 4 to12 Student Survey

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase school effectiveness, Manitoba Education and Training will continue with the implementation of an online student survey called Tell Them From Me (TTFM). This is a well-known survey tool which gives students the opportunity to express their thoughts anonymously in terms of various school improvement initiatives.

Each student receives a randomly generated username and password, so that their identity and responses cannot be linked. All students from Grades 4 to 12 will be given the opportunity to participate in the survey, but their participation is not mandatory.

TTFM was created by The Learning Bar (TLB) and is based on the work of Dr. Doug Willms, a researcher who is well-known nationally and internationally for his work on the development of educational monitoring systems. To obtain more information, please refer to TLB's website at

The survey questions have been specifically designed for elementary students (Grades 4 to 6) and secondary students (Grades 7 to 12). The provincial survey will require approximately 30 minutes to complete, or 10 minutes for the bullying and school safety component, 10 minutes for the career-related questions, and 10 minutes for school-level questions. Students will be asked questions that will assist the school in determining whether bullying is occurring, what types of bullying students may be experiencing, and where and when bullying is taking place; they will also be asked questions related to career exploration and planning.

The provincial survey will be administered in schools between April and May 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact the school principal at 204.328.5364

Thank you for your support in this important initiative.
