FIRE-PREVENTION-WEEK @ RES

The source file is in the Intranet. Any change made to this page will be overwritten by the update from Intranet.

On Wednesday, October 11th, Chief Richard Brown and Firefighter Dave Creighton of Rivers/Daly Fire Department, were at Rivers Elementary School as part of Fire Prevention Week 2017.

This year's theme was Every Second Counts – Plan 2 Ways Out.  Chief Brown and Mr. Creighton visited each classroom and talked to students about knowing what to do if there was a fire in their home.  They questioned students about knowing their address – (both house number and street) and how they would call 911 if the fire was at their home (ie: go to the neighbors).  They presented all students with Sparky Activity Books; NFPA Kids Activity Posters; and Sparky Plastic Cups depicting – When the SMOKE ALARM sounds…GET OUTSIDE and STAY OUTSIDE.  Draws were made in each classroom and one lucky student from each room was presented with a Head Lamp, donated by Captain McMurachy.  In addition to ALL these prizes TWO LUCKY STUDENTS were picked out of a bucket to be CHIEF and DEPUTY CHIEF for the day.

CONGRATULATIONS TO TRAUE FEHR (Chief) and SOPHIA CAMPBELL (Deputy).  These two students will be picked up by the Fire Truck at the school; taken out for lunch; and then returned to the school.

RES STUDENTS & STAFF WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE RIVERS/DALY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR VISIT TO OUR SCHOOL and FOR TEACHING OUR STUDENTS THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A FIRE!!!
