June is National Indigenous History Month — a time to celebrate and honour the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Manitoba and across Canada.
At Rolling River School Division, we recognize the enduring presence and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial. Their stories, achievements, and vibrant cultures continue to shape our communities and the evolving Canada we share.
RRSD encourages everyone to take this opportunity to learn more about First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Take time to discover Indigenous stories in films, music, and art created by Indigenous artists and storytellers.
Take time to attend community events or cultural celebrations to connect and learn firsthand. In our schools, we consider it a privilege to be in a time in history here in Canada that we are able to learn about true histories and experiences of Indigenous peoples as we journey on the path toward reconciliation together.
Let's come together to celebrate, learn, and honour the voices and histories of Indigenous Peoples — this month and every month.
